Saturday 30th July
Lucky, I decided to check the tube out to Heathrow in preparation for catching our flight to Austria. Oh no!, no tube!! Plan B, book a hotel near the airport and get shuttle. So all we need is a bed, no fancy bits. Check out cheap hotels on Google. Got one, it’s called Easy Hotel, £50 for the night. It was the cheapest so it will do. Off we go Saturday afternoon after cleaning the oven and packing up most of the flat ready for shifting. We get to the Hotel at about 7pm and it looks nice enough. We get to our room and just can’t believe it, it is about the size of a shipping container (the short ones!).It is a prefabricated building and looks like the inside of a chiller. The bathroom is in the corner and it was about the same size as the one we had in the campervan. Décor is beige and bright orange. Never mind, it is only one night after all. I went to open the small window but no it is sealed shut. There was an air vent in the top corner to keep us alive. Rod lay down on the rock hard bed and pinched my 5cm thick pillow to put on top of his one and went to turn on the tv that was on the wall. No remote, just a sign that said you may hire the remote from reception. Oh well, we don’t need a remote, it’s a small room. No, tv doesn’t go without the remote. There was only one towel so off went Rod to ask for a 2nd towel. £2 for the towel and £5 for the remote control. Rod managed to convince the girl that the towel should be no charge because there is 2 of us. So, great start to the holiday, do not book into Easyhotel. It was terrible.
